Commercial!

Sorry I haven’t posted in a while. I’ve been out on the job hunt lately. RagTees isn’t able to be my full time job just yet.

I would like to present to you the first commercial for RagTees.com! My friends and I came up with this and we had a fun time shooting it. We hope to do more in the future! (with a better camera. :P) We also really learned the importance of saving every 5 minutes while editing this. 1 hour into the editing, boom, battery dies and the laptop shuts off. My partner wanted to throw my Mac against the wall, but I said “Hey! I just had that drywall redone after I threw my Windows machine at it!” Here’s the commercial. Hope you enjoy it!

Branding and Brotherhoods

I’ve been busy the last few days thinking of how to better brand RagTees. I’ve been obsessing about it. Some nights I’ll stay up until 3 AM thinking of what this company can and should be. I can’t tell you exactly what my branding plans are, since I’m sure my competitors would love to get to it before I do. Though I’d like to say to my competitors, if they’re reading this, I don’t hate you guys! I think you make awesome shirts! But business is business. haha. I can say though that I’m planning to make RagTees the Johnny Cupcakes (johnnycupcakes.com) of the funny t-shirt industry.

RagTees has joined the T-Shirt Brotherhood! The Brotherhood consists of several tee companies that have joined forces to help each other out. You might also find me talking about business in general, or what’s going on in the tech world. Those two things are my passions!

I’ve been spending the last few days emailing blogs and entering my tees at t-shirt listing sites to try to get the word out about RagTees. It’s taking a bit longer than I thought since I’m writing personal emails for the blogs and not mass-emailing them all one message. I’ve been checking out each blog individually too, to see what they blog about and such.

Crush It! by Gary Vaynerchuk, have you heard of it, have you read it? I’ve been reading it slowly, and I’m loving it so far. It’ll probably take me a week to finish it. I read very slowly because I like to think as thoughts come into my head while I’m reading awesome books like this one.

Shirt Photos

I took some pictures of the actual shirts. It’s a small number of shirts, but being a small start-up, I can’t afford to print many shirts at first. Yes, the shirts are set up on a ping pong table (which I’m pretty good at!). Just until I can find another way to store them though. I might buy some shelves or storage bins, or improvise with whatever I have in the basement.

I took some shirts to the Post Office this morning to have them weighed so I can calculate the exact cost to ship them. It’s cheaper than I thought because the shirts weigh less than I expected.

By the way, the ‘I’d like to buy the world a joint’ shirts are Charcoal, a dark gray. They just look brown because of the lighting.

First Shirts

Here are the first two designs (out of four) that will be going on sale when RagTees.com launches next week!

Description: I’d like to buy the world a joint, and keep it company. That’s the real thing.

Description: Next time you see an ice cream truck coming down your street with it’s enticing music, warn the children!

Also, the shirts were ready today, so I went and picked them up. They look awesome! I spent about an hour folding them all. It was tiring, but it gave me such an adrenaline rush! I also discovered that I’m a complete perfectionist when folding shirts. I wanted them to look perfect since the way they’re folded is the way they’ll be shipped out. I can’t wait to start selling these shirts. I’ll post pics of the actual shirts tomorrow.

New Beginnings

So this is the first of what I hope to be many blog posts for RagTees. To start off, I’d like to fill you in on who we are and what RagTees is. The company just consists of me, Bulent, and my friend, Peter. I mostly run the company in my basement, figuring out costs or sketching out t-shirt ideas until 3 AM in the morning. Peter helps out with shirt ideas, he’s the big comedy guy! He also helps with whatever tasks need finishing.

RagTees, in short, is a funny t-shirt company. Though while some funny shirt companies out there might only be in the industry to make as much money as possible, we’re mainly here because we love funny shirts and making people laugh. That’s how the company started in the first place. Pete and I had ideas for shirts that we couldn’t find anywhere. So we decided, why not make them ourselves? And so RagTees was born. While we make shirts we’d wear ourselves, we also make them for you. Everyone could use a good laugh now and then. It is true what they say, laughter is the best medicine. We’re here to spread that medicine around the world.

Now, as of this writing, RagTees.com isn’t live yet. I’ve still got a few things to work out before I can launch sometime within the next two weeks. I should be getting the first batch of t-shirts from the printer this Friday, so I’m excited about that! The designs are being screen printed onto 100% ringspun cotton shirts, which are very soft and comfortable. I’m wearing one right now, so you can take my word for it! Well it’s 2 AM and I’ve got to get some some sleep. So, namaste to you.
